Friday marked the start of what is likely the only festival to simultaneously celebrate both the potato and the strawberry.
Two years ago, the Potato Creek Festival, was combined with the Lions Strawberry Festival. The result started Friday afternoon, in North Liberty, and continues through Saturday night.
The Potato Creek, Lions Strawberry Festival, features a spud run, and a strawberry shortcake sale.
“The last two years we had storms at our festival took a toll on it but it didn't hurt our spirits,” says Vickie Kitchen of the Potato Creek and Lions Strawberry Festival.
Saturday the festival features a car show, a cornhole tournament and plenty of live musical entertainment.
