SOUTH BEND A popular eating spot in downtown South Bend has reopened after paying its overdue rent.
The Vine was closed abruptly by the city on Friday because the owner was six months behind in rent.
The Vine had already been calling customers, telling them they were closing in June and would be shut down by May 31.
The city acted quickly and changed the locks with the intention of recouping any losses by selling off furniture or equipment still inside,
The Vine has since resumed full operational control of the building.
The city's lease with them is set to expire at the end of June.
