Tennis tournament raises money for local schools

SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- South Bend Schools will benefit from a tennis tournament held last month.

"Ace for Science" was put on by the Notre Dame College of Science and the South Bend Alumni Association.

The tournament raised $8,000 that will be given to schools in support of science initiatives.

Teachers from Clay High School, Clay Intermediate, Rise-Up Academy, Nuner Primary, Madison Primary and Warren Primary will be given grants ranging from $500 to $1500 on June 3.

The money will go toward lab materials, model rocketry and Lego robotics projects.
