A teenage boy who escaped from a juvenile detention facility in Kosciusko County over the weekend is now facing a preliminary charge of attempted murder.
Dakota Kimbler, 17, was reported missing from Pierceton Woods in Pierceton on Saturday evening. He's accused of shooting a Paragon Medical Employee in Whitley County on Sunday morning.
The victim says he got into his car after getting off of work and started driving home. He realized someone was in his backseat. He turned to confront the person and was shot in the chest.
He says he wrestled the gun away from him, held him at gunpoint, and then called for help. When authorities arrived, the victim was taken to the hospital and Kimbler was taken into police custody.
