A tragic accident Friday morning near Elkhart Municipal Airport has claimed the life of a teenage girl.
The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. on John Weaver Parkway between County Road 6 and County Road 10, and involved a car and an SUV.
The roadway was closed for over three hours while emergency crews responded to the scene.
The drivers of both vehicles, as well as a female juvenile who was riding in the sedan, were all sent to the hospital.
That passenger later died from her injuries.
According to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth, she was a student at Elkhart Memorial High School.
Elkhart police are continuing to investigate the accident.
