One of four teens, charged in a botched home invasion in October that left one person dead, has been sentenced, according to reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth.
Jose Quiroz, 17, pleaded guilty to murder last month for his role in the shooting death of his friend, who also took part in the break-in.
During Thursday’s hearing, the judge said Quiroz had filed to withdraw that plea, but since it had already been accepted, his motion was denied.
Quiroz was sentenced to 45 years in prison and 10 years on probation.
Meantime, his three co-defendants, Blake Layman, 17, Levi Sparks, 17, and Anthony Sharp, 18 are also facing one charge of felony murder.
Layman and Sparks appeared for court hearings Thursday as well, but there were no further proceedings.
Their jury trial is scheduled for January 17.
