BENTON HARBOR A suspended city employee has filed a motion to get back into city offices to retrieve personal items.

Benton Harbor Public Safety Director Roger Lange was suspended last year, purportedly because he doesn't have two firefighter certifications. He is now working on those certifications.

Lange claims the suspension is retaliation for a letter he wrote to the state, accusing emergency manager Tony Saunders of unethical behavior over the firing of two officers. A lawsuit over those accusations is pending.

Meantime, the Herald Palladium reports that Lange is attempting to retrieve several personal items from the Public Safety Department, including a computer and a coffee maker.
