Police have arrested the man they think walked into a Niles bank and handed the teller a bomb threat last week.

After offering a reward, and following several leads, they apprehended Richard Smith, 44 of Benton Harbor Wednesday.

Last Friday, the Chemical bank in the 400 block of East Main Street was robbed.

Police say Smith handed the teller a note saying there was a bomb outside, but it turned out to be nothing.

Smith allegedly took an unknown amount of cash, and ran.

Thursday, Smith will be arraigned by video conference in Niles.
