Roseland, Ind. Roseland's former Clerk-Treasurer, who stole town money to pay her rent, was sentenced Monday. Susan Hammons was sentenced to 12 months, but the judge suspended that sentence.
Hammons was then given 12 months of probation and one hundred hours of community service. Hammons pleaded guilty to felony official misconduct last month. Two felony theft charges against her were dropped as part of that plea agreement.
Hammons took the town's money to pay her rent in May and June of 2009 while she held the elected office.
She's also been ordered to pay $1,900 in restitution.
