Sturgis concerns over heat-related electricity blackout now over

Sturgis, Mich. Wednesday's heat-related electricity concerns are now over for folks in Sturgis.

The city had asked customers to limit their power consumption to prevent a blackout in the area.

Sturgis's electric supplier had been concerned that, due to the weather conditions, an electric shutdown might have been necessary.

But thanks to residents voluntarily reducing their usage, along with the city's backup diesel generator, the need for a blackout was averted.
