SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Students from St. Joseph High School and Notre Dame volunteered Saturday at Unity Gardens.
This is the fourth year students have offered to pitch-in around the garden at LaSalle Square.
It's all part of CommUniversity Day, a day for students to do community service in the South Bend area.
The primary goal is get the garden ready after a harsh winter.
“It's a really big time for the crops so we are starting new beds,” Sarah Stewart, Unity Gardens Executive Director, said, “covering others that have had cold weather plants in that are going to have warm weather plants just tons of work out here, ever evolving.”
Currently there are more than 50 unity gardens through St. Joseph County.
