A student pilot is in the hospital following a private plane crash at the Goshen Municipal Airport around 9:35 a.m. Saturday.
Airport spokesman Roger Yoder tells NewsCenter 16, a middle-aged male was logging flight hours toward his pilot's license, when the crash occurred. Although a cause is far from being determined, Yoder says the Jabiru two-seat J-170 aircraft was nearing take-off along runway 27 when the light-sport plane banked to the left and crashed in a patch of grass.
Paramedics took the student pilot to IU Health Goshen Hospital for bumps and bruises from the crash. He is expected to be okay.
A team from the FAA arrived at the airport around 11 a.m. to begin its initial investigation. All flight traffic in and out of the Goshen Municipal Airport has since resumed.
