Dowagiac, Mich. Dowagiac Schools are investigating after a student brought an airsoft handgun to a football game Friday evening.
Several people in the bleachers voiced concern to police that a student in the crowd may be in possession of a handgun.
Officers quickly located the student and separated him from the crowd.
While the gun wasn't loaded and police say the student didn't threaten anyone, bringing any kind of weapon onto school property is against the rules.
The student was turned over to a parent and the event is not considered a criminal incident.
Airsoft is usually played wearing eye protection, but the projectiles do not normally travel fast enough to require further covering by players. Airsoft guns shoot plastic pellets similar in size to BBs.
