An elementary school student is in trouble after a teacher found a knife in his backpack.

The incident happened this morning at Elm Road Elementary in the Penn-Harris-Madison School District. A spokeswoman says the student never displayed the knife or took it out of his backpack.

But, a teacher found the weapon after the child made threatening comments about a classmate’s parents.

A letter went home to parents on Monday explaining the incident.

The student has since been disciplined.
