Plenty of local businesses are gearing up for big sales this holiday season.
Saturday is “small business Saturday.” It’s publicized by American Express.
In Niles at Veni's Sweet Shop, Santa made a surprise visit. He'll be stopping by the chocolate shop this month every now and then to talk to kids.
This year Veni’s is offering specials on black Friday and small business Saturday.
Plus there are a couple of new sweet treats that are now being offered after several loyal customers made requests.
"We have a lot of people that when they come back to visit family, they've got to stop in and get their favorites,” says Veni’s manager Linda Skwarcan. “We do a lot of shipping because we do have a lot of specialty product.”
Friday and Saturday several stores along downtown Niles will have their own specials while competing with national chains.
Niles Styles has locally made scarves that will be on sale. The store also offers several accessories that make good gifts.
