Benton Harbor A review team will be pouring over the financial affairs of Benton Harbor Area Schools in the near future.
The local Emergency Financial Assistance Loan Board has determined that the district is in a category called Probable Financial Stress.
So, Governor Rick Snyder appointed the review team Monday to discuss options. Options could include getting the district an emergency manager, or having them file for bankruptcy.
According to our reporting partners at WSJM, it's estimated the district's deficit will grow to more than $14 million dollars by the end of the week.
The review team may meet as early as next week. Officials are also looking to schedule a public meeting on the issue.
