State Theater getting some much needed work done

South Bend, Ind. The state theater is getting some much-needed tender loving care.

Thursday volunteers from the community headed over to the iconic building, armed with brooms and cleaning supplies.

The theater is preparing to host new events by making sure it's clean and ready for folks to come and enjoy the entertainment.

All of the work is done by volunteers who are passionate about keeping the theater alive.

“Invite our volunteers down, get things cleaned up,” says volunteer coordinator Mara Trionfero. “We're hoping to have the upstairs mezzanine area open and there’s a lot of work that needs to be done. So we figure we'd pull all our people power out and see what we could accomplish.”

The theater is always looking for more volunteers to help with the up-keep, and with the shows themselves.

The next event at State Theater is a bazaar this coming Sunday.
