ELKHART Indiana's House of Representatives will honor two local heroes.

Corporal Cody Skipper and Corporal Jason Tripp were the first two officers on the scene of last month's deadly shooting at a Martin's grocery store in Elkhart. The two men are credited with stopping the violence before more people were killed.

Representative Tim Neese from Elkhart authored the House resolution. According to The Elkhart Truth, it also memorializes the victims – Krystle Dikes and Rachelle Godfread.

The resolution will be read at 10a.m. Wednesday at the House chambers in Indianapolis. The public is encouraged to attend.

Mark Peterson will be at the ceremony for full coverage Wednesday.
