Five Elkhart County bars were ticketed on Saturday night after a bust by the Indiana State Excise Police.

Police ticketed Gemini in Elkhart for being a public nuisance along with El Serape, Big Easy, Bolts and Red Bar and Grill.

The charges ranged from allowing minors to loiter to violating Indiana’s smoke-free air law.

Devin Wilson, 23, was taken into custody at Gemini Bar and Grill, facing a charge of possession of a handgun without a permit.

Three minors were also arrested for illegal consumption and being in a tavern.

“The regulatory responsibilities assigned to the State Excise Police are essential to public safety,” Superintendent Matt Strittmatter said. “Excise officers will continue to ensure that permit locations comply with the alcoholic beverage laws through diligent enforcement of the statutes specific to prohibiting service to underage persons.”

Excise police officers were assisted by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
