State Excise Police arrest 19 people at The Bear's concert Sunday

Sunday 19 people were cited at a South Bend radio station's summer concert for drugs and underage drinking.

The concert is known as "The Big Growl" sponsored by 103.9 The Bear at the 4-H fairgrounds.

Indiana State Excise Police arrested 19 people on 22 charges including possession of marijuana, underage drinking and littering.

Typically excise police will work large events, where alcohol is readily available.

At the concert officers were undercover and dressed in street clothes.
Indiana State Excise Police Corporal Travis Thickstun says, “It could be a past history of alcohol, problems at a certain location, the number of people expected to attend a certain event, the number of officers available to work or could be other parts of the state that dictate we go elsewhere.”

Excise police also worked "Country Fest" at Four Winds Field in South Bend on Saturday but no arrests were made.
