A St. Joseph resident has backed off his plans to build a seawall on the beach near his home, but that doesn't mean the issue is over.
According to our reporting partners at WSJM, a six-month moratorium is expected to be enacted on Monday by the St. Joseph City Commission, banning the building of any sea walls in Lake Michigan.
The city's mayor says public outcry over the resident who was planning a seawall, which we first told you about last week, prompted the moratorium.
Monday, the resident backed off, emailing his neighbors and apologizing, while agreeing to drop the case.
