A task force has been formed in St. Joseph County to help make the switch to a new voting system, starting in 2014.
While voters now have just one designated precinct in their neighborhood where they have to vote, vote centers would allow you to vote at any one of a number of polling places, spread throughout the county.
“We're looking for recommendations on hardware software, locations,” said James Korpal, St. Joseph County Election Board President. “They're going to take a look at how other counties that have vote centers have done it, and hopefully we can get a final report from them by the end of the summer and move forward toward next year having the vote centers.”
The switch to vote centers in St. Joseph County is scheduled to take place in May of 2014. There are no elections in 20-13.
