South Bend, Ind. A St. Joseph County officer and two others were sent to the hospital after two back to back crashes Sunday morning.
The crashes happened near the intersection of Douglas Road and State Road 23.
In the first crash, St. Joseph County police say a woman drove her car into a tree.
Shortly after, around 3 a.m., police were called to the scene again, this time for a drunk driving incident.
29-year-old Carl Edward Sabinas was going eastbound on Douglas Road when he reportedly drove his car into a tow truck. The truck hit a St. Joe County officer, sending him back a few feet.
Police say Sabinas was under the influence and his BAC level was double the state limit.
Both the drivers and the officer were sent to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for their injuries.
