Splash pads offer free place to cool off for families

With temperatures topping 90 degrees this week, splash pads throughout St. Joseph County offer a free place for families to get some relief from the heat.

The newest water wonderland is at South Bend's Potawatomi Park. It was packed with kids Tuesday night.

"It was very hot out and we thought it would be a great idea to get the kids in the splash pad, get them cooled down a little bit," said St. Joseph County resident Alan Arceneaux.

Kids ran through the water and poured bottles of water over each other's heads to keep cool.

The splash pad at Potawatomi Park is one of six in St. Joseph County. They're all free to the public.
