Speed is believed to be a factor in a deadly head-on crash into a tree.
It happened in Van Buren County on Baseline Road in Columbia Township. According to our reporting partners at WSJM radio, 38-year-old Timothy Thurston of Grand Junction likely died on impact.
Officers are not sure what caused him to leave the road. Toxicology results are pending to find out if alcohol or drugs were factors.
