If you plan on riding the South Shore into the Windy City to watch the Notre Dame Miami football game this weekend at Soldier Field, make sure you don't pack a cooler.
While there are no alcohol restrictions on the trains departing South Bend this Saturday, coolers and glass bottles will be prohibited.
According to the Transit Police, this rule will be in place on the entire railroad throughout the day as a safety precaution for both passengers and employees. Violators will be asked to either return the items to their cars or be denied entry onto the train.
Meantime, in anticipation of a big game day crowd, the South Shore has an extra westbound train leaving South Bend at 1:30 p.m. that will make limited stops to the Museum Campus/11th Street Station near Soldier Field.
There will also be an extra eastbound train leaving that stop an hour after the game ends.
