South Bend, Ind. After a severe winter storm, South Bend schools held their first full week of classes. However, students and teachers have even more to look forward to next year.

The South Bend Community School Corporation unanimously approved new courses for high school students to be introduced in the 2014-2015 school year.

Those classes include Intro to Computer Science, Technical Communications, and Electronic Music.

Teachers and staff attending the meeting were also concerned about a possible loss in compensation while the school district was closed for two days last week.

One employee argued that workers need their full income to avoid financial hardship.
The board unanimously agreed to compensate school staff for their regularly scheduled hours.
