There's been a setback in efforts to bring two-way traffic to Lafayette and Williams Streets in South Bend.

Bids came in way too high and were rejected Tuesday morning.

The low bid would have to be trimmed by a third -- or $384,000 -- to fit in the city's budget.

The city will re-advertise for bids after tweaking the project.

Mark Peterson will have more information later this afternoon.
