South Bend, Ind. South Bend is earning national recognition for the state of its roads. Unfortunately, a new study ranks South Bend as number 14 on the list of mid-sized cities with the worst roads in the nation.
The study comes from a Washington based transportation research group which found that about one third of South Bend's roads are in poor condition.
“What that means for drivers is that they're losing almost five hundred dollars each year as a result of driving on deteriorated roads,” says Carolyn Bonifas Kelly with TRIP. “Now those costs come in the form of accelerated vehicle depreciation. It's also the additional maintenance that your forced to perform on your car because you're driving over rough roads.”
What city has the worst roads? Antioch, California has the worst roads where 64-percent of the roads are in poor condition. Fort Wayne also ended up on the list at number 18.
