SOUTH BEND A face familiar to Michiana is getting attention on the national scale, in a Washington Post article titled "The Most Interesting Mayor You've Never Heard Of." Michiana has certainly heard of him – South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

The article cites Buttigieg's deployment as one factor that makes him an unusual city leader, along with his age. At 32, he is the youngest mayor of a city with a population of more than 100,000 people. The article talks about how Buttigieg has revitalized the city, which was named on a list of "America's Dying Cities" as recently as 2010.

The author, Jaime Fuller, doesn't ignore negative points either – like the police tapes scandal.
