SOUTH BEND, Ind. South Bend's mayor is making a sweet bet on the Irish winning this weekend's bowl game. Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Mayor Brian Wahler of Piscataway, N.J., made a friendly wager.

If the Irish lose Saturday's game, Buttigieg will send Wahler some gourmet goodies from the South Bend Chocolate Company.

If Notre Dame wins, Wahler will have to pay up with a basket of Italian delicacies. Buttigieg says there’s more to bet with the Piscataway mayor than the sweet swap.

“Should they win, I'd have to wear a Rutgers sweatshirt around town for the day,” said Buttigieg. ”And, he promised that when Notre Dame wins, we'll get photo proof that he will have worn this around New Jersey for a day in honor of Notre Dame."

Buttigieg made a similar bet last year when Notre Dame played Alabama in the national championship game.
