Production at the ethanol plant in South Bend could resume later this year now that the embattled facility has a new owner.
The plant has been sold to Noble Americas South Bend Ethanol LLC, according to a news release from the mayor’s office.
The buyer is a subsidiary of an energy marketing and trading company based in Connecticut.
About 50 people are expected to work at the plant when production resumes late this year or early next.
The year began with the plant in bankruptcy court where it was acquired at auction by a liquidation company.
