SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- The South Bend City Council has approved a plan to build a six-story building near downtown after a zoning board rejected a similar request for height variance.

The maximum height for such projects is seven stories, while the limit for new structures in that neighborhood is five stories.

The Developer refiled the project in a way that gave the city council final approval after he had been denied permission by the zoning board.
