SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- This week, South Bend is breeding a bunch of mad scientists.

Hundreds of kids are at Camp Invention, a camp dedicated to science experiments and engineering feats, like robots.

The camp is happening at four primary centers in the area.

All of the students are in kindergarten through second grade, and they are all deemed "at-risk" students.

That's why this education-based camp is such a cool concept.

"A hundred percent of them absolutely love it,” said John Vandyke, from Camp Invention at Lincoln Primary. “This is all science, engineering and mathematics based, and that doesn't seem to bother the children at all.”

Camp Invention is the only elementary enrichment program backed by the National Inventors Hall of Fame.

If you think this camp is something your child might enjoy next year you can head over to the Big Red Bar on the main page and click on the camp link to see if your child qualifies.
