The South Bend School Corporation is celebrating 100 years of basketball. Ten teams that are a part of the city's boys’ basketball history were recognized.
That includes the 100th Anniversary of South Bend High School's state runner-up finish in five overtimes against Wingate in 1913, and the 70th Anniversary of the 1943 Central High School team, which achieved a number one ranking under Coach John Wooden.
“So many people have played this game, so many coaches have coached it, and it is part of the fabric of Indiana and in our community in South Bend,” said Greg Humnicky the Retired Athletic Director at Clay High School.
The celebration took place before the Clay and Adams Varsity game.
