If you are looking for a way to spice up your Thanksgiving meal this year, you may want to head to the South Bend Farmer's Market.

There are several vendors that offer spices that are hard to find and can add a fresh taste to certain recipes.

Plus, every year Hiatt's poultry sells hundreds of fresh turkeys. It's a family farm based out of Rochester that raises turkeys, chickens and ducks.

You can special order a bird, or walk into the market and buy one, which will cost about 20 to 30 % more.

They'll also give you some tips on how to cook the perfect meal.

“We used to have people that always asked’ how to do care for them’, ‘how do you cook this?’ And so I put it on paper and a lot of people now will say ‘oh yeah I've got that, I've got two or three of those at home’, but we will give them another one,” said Kathryn Hiatt of Hiatt's Poultry.

On the other side of the market, you will also find fresh cranberries, mushrooms, potatoes and yams at Hovenkamp's Produce. They offer gourmet vegetables for some specialty thanksgiving day dishes.

Recipes are also available for you to make a unique stuffing using their wild rice.

The farmers market is open an extra day this Wednesday, the day before thanksgiving, for last-minute shoppers.
