South Bend, Ind. South Bend Community Schools has opened its own health clinic. Tuesday, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Health Center on Lincolnway East.
It's staffed with two primary physicians, two nurse practitioners and four medical assistants. The facility is open to those who are part of the corporation's employee health insurance plan. District officials say they hope the clinic will make it easier for employees.
“We really do have a health clinic for our employees that focuses not only on keeping them healthy but making them healthier,” said South Bend School Superintendent Dr. Carole Schmidt.
The clinic is open by appointment only, with a goal of lowering costs for employees and the corporation's health plan.
