South Bend, Ind. You might have noticed some jack-o-lanterns lining Michigan Street Saturday evening. They were there to show off some community carvings from the South Bend Chocolate Company carving event.
Kids and adults helped carve more than 100 pumpkins to get downtown ready for Halloween. The event was free and more than doubled the number of jack-o-lanterns from last year. The pumpkins we're even hollowed out before families arrived, leaving only the fun part for this year's carvers.
“You know there's always a reason and a season to sell chocolate but we thought this year we would sort of kick off some of the other the festivities going on next weekend and we thought we would do another event to start it off and bring out the family,” says Nisa Buller with the South Bend Chocolate Company. “It’s a fun event to bring into the mix with Halloween.”
The event was so successful that managers are talking about extending it to other South Bend Chocolate Company locations next Halloween.
