SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Last Friday a South Bend mother was upset with a homework assignment given to her son involving information on drugs like marijuana and cocaine.
It was a worksheet asking the student to list side effects from inhalants, marijuana and cocaine.
While drug education is a good thing, the mom says he's too young, at just 9 years old.
On Tuesday, South Bend Community School Corporation made the following statement:
"SBCSC makes every effort to provide age-appropriate instruction to students using Indiana academic standards and state approved textbooks... We certainly invite and encourage parents to review any and all materials, and communicate any concerns with their child's school."
