South Bend Animal Control offering straw to provide warm outdoor bedding

Michiana woke up Tuesday morning to single digit temperatures.

It was frightfully freezing but imagine being stuck outside with only a fur coat to keep you warm.

Although some animals love to be outside during this time of year, it can still be tough if they are outside for too long.

If your pet must stay outdoors vets recommend providing shelter from the wind, a heated water bowl, plenty of food and proper bedding

That's why South Bend Animal Control is offering free straw for animal beds.

Plus officers are keeping it handy in their vans to hand out if animals aren't being protected.

If you'd like to pick up some straw it’s free.

All you have to stop is stop the shelter and make sure to bring a trash bag.
