This weekend’s new movie release “Lincoln,” has ties to Michiana.
The founder of Skywalker Sound called the Studebaker National Museum to ask if he could record some sounds of the museum’s presidential carriage, used by Lincoln, in the upcoming movie.
He said the film’s director, Steven Spielberg, wanted to make the movie and its soundtrack as authentic as possible.
For 20 minutes, South Bend’s Grass Roots Media, and museum staffers worked together to capture authentic sounds, including slamming doors, and metal springs squeaking.
The carriage is part of the Presidential Carriage Collection at the Studebaker museum.
