Small plane crash-lands near Grand Haven airport

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. Western Michigan authorities say a small plane has crashed near the Grand Haven airport, injuring the pilot.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. Sunday. It says the plane crash-landed on a road just east of the Grand Haven Memorial Airpark.

Authorities say the pilot was the only person aboard. Witnesses tell WOOD-TV that the pilot had some facial injuries and said he had neck and back pain.

The pilot says it was the first time he flew the experimental biplane.

Ottawa County sheriff deputies, Grand Haven police and city fire crews have responded to the crash.
