Winter weather played a role in a car crash that sent three people to the hospital Saturday evening.
At around 9 p.m. police say a minivan was heading east on US 12 just southwest of downtown Niles, when it was rear-ended by another car.
Officials say the minivan was slowing down to turn right onto 3rd St. when the accident happened.
Both vehicles suffered minor damage. The driver of the van and both passengers inside the car were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say the slick roads are believed to be a factor in the wreck.
