South Bend After months of anticipation, the Silver Hawks kicked off their season at Four Winds Field. The Silver Hawks are currently 2-2 after playing Bowling Green this past week.

Fans in attendance will get their first look at news signs, TV’s at concession stands, a new PA system, new barbeque stand, corn dogs and more.

Team owner Andrew Berlin unveiled another addition - a statue of Stanley Coveleski. The statue was designed by the same company that created the Michael Jordan statue that is displayed outside the United Center in Chicago. Team officials said they hope the statue helps carry on Coveleski's tradition.

Berlin said he hopes the upgrades to the stadium will draw even more people to Silver Hawks games this year.

"Our first promise was to the city that we would help downtown South Bend," Berlin said. "We're really living up to that promise. We're hoping to get 300,000 people down here, maybe more. When you get that population density, it attracts more business, it attracts more jobs. It is good across the board."
