Silver Hawks beat Great Lakes in Game 1 of playoff series

Aaron Blair threw six scoreless innings and Fidel Pena drove in the go ahead run in the 3rd inning as the South Bend Silver Hawks beat the Great Lakes Loons 3-0 in the opening game of their best of three playoff series Wednesday night in Midland, MI.

Blair struck out five batters while scattering four hits to pickup the win for South Bend, which can wrap up the opening round playoffs series with a win at The Cove Thursday night at 7pm. Game 3, if needed, is Friday at 7:30 at Coveleski Stadium.

Pena's RBI in the 3rd inning scored Brandon Drury. The game remained 1-0 until the 8th when the Hawks got some insurance thanks to a 2-RBI double from Breland Almadova.
