The family of an IU student injured while riding in the Little 500 bike race is asking for notes of encouragement while she recovers.

Lauren Gill is a member of the Indiana University nursing team and competed in the Little 500 bike race.

During a practice race Thursday on the IU Bloomington campus, another biker stopped suddenly in front of Gill, causing her to fly over her handlebars and hit the pavement.

Gill's family said she's still in critical condition and semi-conscious, but she can move her body and respond to them.

They're still waiting to see what damage her brain may have suffered.

Her family has set up a webpage to help supporters track her progress

You can find it at CaringBridge.org.

Gill's family is asking Michiana residents to continue to keep Lauren in their thoughts, and to drop by the page and leave a note of encouragement.
