Shooting on Kenmore near violence-prone Munchie Mart injures one

South Bend, Ind. A South Bend neighborhood, plagued by violence, was the scene of another shooting Wednesday.

A 21-year-old man was found on the front porch of a house in the 200 block of S. Kenmore Street just before 5:30 p.m.

He'd been shot in the thigh and lost a large amount of blood.

He was rushed to the hospital, but officers believe he will recover.

Police believe he may have been shot in a parking lot, just down the street from Rick's Mart, formerly known as Munchie Mart.

But they're still investigating.

“We have no suspect information right now,” explained SBPD Sgt. Chuck Stokes. “All we know is he left the home, his uncle thought he was going to the Munchie Mart, five minutes later, he was back, and telling his uncle he had been shot.”

Police say the victim hasn't been co-operating with police, saying that he doesn't know what happened.
