Elkhart, Ind. The Elkhart City Council still has not voted on the controversial sewer ordinance.
Monday night, the council agenda listed the ordinance under unfinished business and it was sent to another committee for discussion later this week. The proposals change the sewer rates for people who live outside Elkhart City limits, but use city utilities.
For weeks, the issue has been debated and there has been no final resolution. Elkhart City Mayor Dick Moore expressed concern at Monday night's meeting.
"It should have been resolved a long time ago,” says Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore. “It’s been with the council now for I'm estimating six weeks maybe evening longer than that, maybe 8 weeks. It could have been done Monday night. We have a very light agenda Monday night. It could have been handled Monday night very very easily."
A special Elkhart City Council meeting over the sewer ordinance will be held this Thursday.
