Seven members of Cash Out Boyz indicted

Seven alleged members of the Cash Out Boyz street gang were charged with involvement in a racketeering conspiracy. United States Attorney David Capp announced that between 2010 and 2012 the men, acting on behalf of the Cash Out Boyz, were involved in a battery of charges including distribution of controlled substances, murder, attempted murder, robbery, assault, and home invasion in the South Bend area.

Capp stated, “The indictment today represents part of our ongoing effort in northern Indiana against violent street gangs. Our investigation is continuing and we are not going to stop until we remove these violent offenders from the streets.” The U.S. Attorney’s office has been working in conjunction with St. Joseph County Prosecutor Michael Dvorak and his office to file the indictment, saying it has been a “team effort on all fronts.”

The charges consist of 18 acts of racketeering in addition to one murder, and multiple acts of attempted murder.

The South Bend men under the indictment include: Timothy Whitfield, 21, Jarvis Ward, 19, Demerius Shaw, 20, Alvin Blade III, 20, Jaleen McGee, 20, Brison Williams, 20, and Rickey Hemphill, 19.

Whitfield and Shaw are in currently in police custody in relation to other charges, while Blade, McGee and Hemphill were arrested Saturday, December 15.

Officials say Williams and Ward are still at large, and are asking if anyone has any information that could assist in police efforts to find them to call the FBI at 574-233-4488 or the U.S. Marshal’s Service at 574-236-8291.
