Seven counts of alleged misconduct were filed Wednesday, in an attempt to fire South Bend Police Officer Theodore Robert.
Last October, Robert allegedly began an unauthorized investigation into two cases that were being looked into by the department.
According to the charges, Robert was never assigned to work either case nor did he have any involvement as a civilian or witness. During the unauthorized probe, Robert allegedly made reference to racism and a cover up on the part of the department.
Robert has already been suspended over the incident.
